Know what never gets pasted
Decide once, in advance, what categories of information never go into a consumer AI tool — then you never have to decide under deadline.
Write your personal never-paste list and keep it where you work. A good starting set: customer and employee records, health information, financial account details, legal matters in progress, anything under NDA, and anything you'd have to report if it leaked. When in doubt: describe the situation with placeholders instead.
Why it works
Rules made in advance survive the moment when pasting the real thing would be five seconds faster. Placeholders get you most of the help with far less exposure.
Watch out
This applies to free and personal accounts especially — business tools with contractual data protections are a different, deliberate decision.
