Know the Limits
Check the citation at the source
AI tools produce references that look perfect and are sometimes wrong — right author, plausible title, no such paper.
Before you repeat or forward any AI-provided fact, quote, statistic, or reference: open the original source and find the claim in it. If you can't find the source, or can't find the claim in the source, the claim doesn't get repeated.
Why it works
A fabricated reference looks exactly like a real one. The test that works happens outside the AI: at the source itself.
Watch out
"I saw a link" is not verification. Links can be real while the summary of what's behind them is wrong.
